Eight Ways to Build a Defensive Culture


1. Attack mentality (disruptive, aggressive, disciplined)


2. Give them a picture (show game film of practice drills working)


3. Defensive individuals (work on individual development)


4. Have a hustle chart and rewards


5. Practice culture: no fouls, no out of bounds, don’t stop until defensive gains possession


6. Organized chaos


7. Utilize drills that create difficult situations to defend (overload drills)


8. Don’t become a prisoner to your rules (adjust)
