Typically, our best defensive drills in practice are small-sided games. Today, we ran shell to teach and reinforce some defensive principles. We made the drill live by giving he offense a small advantage. A coach would call the name of a defensive player. This cued the on ball defender to give the ball handler a small advantage. Play was live from this point. This was a nice middle ground between live play and shell.
