Use Small Advantage to Find a Big Advantage

Updated: Jul 19, 2020

Most of our practices teach players how to create advantages. Decision making starts once we have a small advantage. We spend way more time in the decision making phase than the “offensive” phase of the possession. Sometimes the PLAY is yours but the SHOT may not be.

One of our favorite drills to teach players to find the big advantage is 3-4 closeouts. It teaches players to that ball speed is more important than the dribble to create bag advantage shots. Obviously, it’s a great drill for closeouts, multiple efforts, and defensive rotation.
